The Community Service Coalition (CSC) is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization providing services to the Chinese American communities in the New York City area. It was established in 2009 by a group of individuals of Chinese background dedicated to community service and particularly interested in improving the lives of Chinese Americans. CSC is a community-based initiative that seeks to meet the critical needs of the Chinese communities throughout NYC while respecting Chinese culture, traditions and heritage. CSC provides various services to meet the community needs in health, culture, education and environment. The Board is comprised of philanthropists, medical doctors and business leaders of the Chinese-American community. Many program activities are supported by a large pool of trained professional bilingual volunteers from the New York Chinese communities. We are located directly adjacent to Queens Chinatown, home to one of the largest populations of Chinese-speaking population in the United States.
The health education program is one of the center pieces of CSC’s activity. The early disease detection and prevention projects identify underserved and at-risk individuals with potential for cancer, stroke, heart problems, and infectious or chronic diseases. The program provides health outreach and education services for many Chinese immigrants who have no access to health care.
In summary, CSC is very active in the Greater New York areas in local health, culture and educational events. Participation in these events furthers our mission to preserve and promote better health, traditional Chinese culture and values, and encourage diversity and cultural exchange. All programs, activities and materials are free to the public. CSC seeks to create a better quality of life for all Chinese Americans regardless of citizenship status, cultural ethnicity, and socioeconomic level.
